July to December February is often busy for parents with school-aged kiddos. It is no different for me. Add to that a job change for me and a furlough for hubby and this season has been extra stressful.
Despite that, I have managed to finish four sevenish knitting projects a several sewing project, and have begun in earnest to edit my book (again). I’ve also finished reading many books- both nonfiction and fiction. Plus, Ive been camping. Four five times in three five months.
Pens:
I fully believe in my WWI mystery set at the Norfolk Navy Yard, Portsmouth, VA. That being said, it was been a struggle to find the right start and romance level. The romance woven throughout hasn’t exactly resonated with readers so I finished an extensive rewrite over the summer. The biggest take away for me, I think, is that it’s not that a mystery can’t have a romance (because it can!) but I’d not fully realized the combination of the two. My hope is that the rewrite has better focused on the mystery and some of the historical time period details.
Needles:
I’ve mostly been knitting since August. I did finish an apron for a Princess Cimorene Cosplay, but never finished the fancier, 1910s inspired Halloween costume.

Since the start of 2021, I’ve also finished two bags— a cross bodied purse and a knitting bag—
(Alt description: top: navy blue bag with a silver snap on the front and a zipper at the top. Lobster clasp attach the shoulder strap.
Bottom: a rounded-bottom bag with one strap longer than the other. The fabric has women in 1910s-fashion dresses and hats on a gold/sepia background with two decorate thick blue line blocks.)
and a pair of WWII pants. (No pictures yet!)
I have also finished a cropped wrap sweater that I haven’t worn nearly enough for how awesome it is! Since I al trying to wear my me-made items more, this needs to change!

Anyway, this is all for now. I’m going to try to update more so please follow me for updates!
Until next time, keep crafting!
